Basketball legend Kobe Bryant died in helicopter crash Sunday, January 26, 2020

Kobe Bryant, the 20-year former NBA player of the L.A. Lakers, was killed in a private helicopter crash in Calabasas, California today. There were 9 people on board the helicopter when it crashed.

His wife, Vanessa and 3 of their 4 children were not on the helicopter.

Kobe Bryant was 41 years old.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated; however, initial reports state the crash was possibly due to extreme heavy fog in the area. Other reports state that the helicopter crashed into hills above Calabasas, CA in heavy fog.

In addition to Bryant and his daughter, girls’ basketball coach Christina Mauser was also on board. Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli was also on board. Altobelli’s wife, Keir Altobelli, and his 13-year-old daughter, Alyssa, were among the victims.

Bryant was considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was a NBA All-star 18 of the 20 years he played in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant won an Academy Award in 2018 for his short film, “Dear Basketball”.
