Trump disgusts Americans on an everyday basis, but many of us were particularly appalled when the president decided to use his State of the Union lunch with TV anchors, just hours before his address, to trash the late Senator John McCain.
In front of everyone in attendance, Trump made fun of the widely-respected Republican, who passed away from brain cancer less than six months ago. Attacking McCain for his book sales, the president mocked him by saying it had “bombed.” It was a completely classless thing to do, and now he’s going to pay for it.
McCain’s daughter, Meghan, is defending her father and putting Trump in his place. Meghan responded to Trump on Twitter after she heard of his comments. She tweeted:
The president’s obsession with my father 6 months after his death is pathetic and telling – even at a time when he should be focusing on his message to the American public and the state of our union – the greatness of my father’s life and legacy haunts you.

She couldn’t have been more correct. Trump is still threatened by McCain’s legacy and everything he stood for. But Meghan didn’t stop there. McCain’s daughter also lashed out at the president on national television, condemning him on The View. Defending her father and many others the president trashed during his SOTU lunch, she said:
You aren’t being bipartisan mere hours earlier obsessing over people you consider your enemies.”

Her father would be proud.
