DSHS reported a seven-day average positivity rate of 14.18 percent since Tuesday, that includes 5 days of decrease from the states peak of 17.43 percent on July 16. Positivity rate shows the percentage of people who evaluate favorable for the virus out of all the individuals evaluated.

The last time Texas posted a single-day record for variety of deaths was on July 17 with 174.

As more people are checked, an increasing positivity rate would suggest a fast spread of the virus. A decreasing positivity rate would indicate that as more individuals get tested, fewer are checking positive.

Houston Health Authority Dr. David Persse noted that new daily reported cases are showing a down pattern compared to last week, and while there is a small dip in hospitalizations, he alerted Houston still has a long method to precede the virus is under control.

Information from the Harris County Public Health and Houston Health Departments joint dashboard program:.

In the city of Houston, the Health Department reported 773 brand-new cases, and 8 new deaths.
Local staff members in the general public works department, human resources department, as well as civilian staff members for the Houston Police Department, and Houston Fire Captain Leroy Lucio have all died in the last week due to COVID-19.

Week of:.
