July 20 (UPI)– U.S. President Donald Trump made his first public endorsement for using a mask to stop spread of COVID-19 by tweeting a picture Monday of himself wearing a face covering.

Trumps action leaves a path for retreat for outliers like Republican Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia, who on Thursday took legal action against the city of Atlanta for imposing a mask required. Kemp, who has actually called mask using “an excellent idea,” said in June that requiring homeowners to use a face covering was “a bridge too far.”

Walmart is needing masks inside stores nationwide starting on Monday, and other retailers, consisting of Walgreens, CVS and Lowes announced that face masks are required to shop in shops nationwide. More than half of U.S. states now have statewide mask requirements.
